I got a butt-load of Christmas gifts today, reminding me how lucky I am to be surrounded by such great people. The biggest shock gift-wise came from Lori: the 5 DVD set The Civil War: A Ken Burns Film. Until I caught part of the documentary on PBS last year, I can honestly say that I had zero interest in American history. After watching the first of 9 episodes and being as moved as I was when I caught the end of the series before, I can't wait to watch the rest of them. I don't care who you are, you need to buy this, or rent this, or hell--call me and I'll loan it to you when I'm done with it, but you have to see this documentary. It's incredibly stimulating both emotionally and intellectually. It's an awesome gift, thanks again, Lors!

All nerdiness aside though, seriously, see it. I'm out--gotta watch episode 2.
