Last *Goal Post* for a lonnng timeIn approximately an hour and a half, Patrick Roy, goalie for the Colorado Avalanche, will announce his retirement. If you know me much, you know that I love hockey, and of all the hockey teams in the world the Colorado Avalanche are nearest to my heart, and of all the players on all the teams in the world, Patrick Roy has without a doubt always been my favorite. He's retiring as the record holder of basically every goalie record of importance, including; most
regular season minutes played, games played, and wins; most
play-off games played, wins, and shut-outs. Patrick Roy's the main reason I became such a hockey freak--the first hockey game I ever saw was in the '95-'96 play-offs where he recorded one of his 16 play-off wins en route to his 3rd league MVP trophy (yet another NHL goalie record). I'll stop ranting now, but let me know if there's more you want to know about the Goalie Who Would Be King (shut up, that's funny because the name Roy actually means King, punk). To sum up: Even if you're not a fan of hockey or sports in general--or are a Red Wings fan (Dr00)--you can still appreciate the fact that Patrick Roy has been the best ever at what he does, and that's saying a lot considering the sport of hockey has been around for almost two centuries.

Get ready to do some consolin', Lors
For those of you wondering why on earth Roy would want to retire when he had his best season just one year ago and is still wholly capable of kicking NHL ass... One of the main reasons is that his son is going to be starting his minor league play this fall and he wants to be an active part of it.
